AP Poll: OSU Drops 4 Spots, SEC Only Has 6 Teams Ranked?
What a slide by the SEC in the AP Poll.
Ohio State dropped four spots to No. 6 and Texas A&M came in at 9 in the AP Poll following their losses Saturday. Michigan moved up to the number 2 spot behind Alabama.
West Virginia remained undefeated and replaced Wisconsin at No. 10 as the Badgers fell one spot. The remainder of the teams in the top 10 remained the same.
The surprising thing this week is that the SEC only has six teams ranked in the AP Poll. Doesn’t that break some kind of rule?
Both Ole Miss and Arkansas dropped out of the rankings and no other conference team(s) replaced them. How can that be when nearly every SEC football team is strong?
The Big Ten still has 4 teams ranked in the first 11, and now the conference has another team ranked as well. Penn State moved into the poll at 24 this week after the Nittany Lions pulled off a comeback win over the Buckeyes.
The ACC matched the Big Ten with 5 teams in the Top 25. The Big 12 and Pac 12 have 3 apiece. The Mountain West, Mid-American and American Athletic Conferences each have one team ranked.
Two things that still confuse me each week in the AP Poll. First, what happened to the Pac 12 this year? I thought Washington would be strong, but I thought there would be several other very good teams as well.
The second is just trying to remember what conferences some of these teams play in anymore. Seriously, Colorado and Utah in the Pac 12 and West Virginia in the Big 12?
