All-PFL standouts return to preseason team
ST. LOUIS (STATS) - The Pioneer Football League's 2015 preseason team released Wednesday suggests it could be a banner season for talent across the non-scholarship FCS league.
All 29 members of the team received 2014 postseason honors from the league - 16 first-teamers, 12 second-teamers and one honorable mention selection. Each player was automatically placed on the preseason team.
Highlighting the group were last year's PFL offensive and defensive players of the year, Dayton running back Connor Kacsor and Stetson safety Donald Payne. Both were nominated to the STATS FCS preseason watch lists earlier this month.
Jacksonville, which is ineligible for the PFL championship because of mistakes it made in awarding financial aid from 2010-14, had the most preseason selections with five.
Defending champion San Diego, picked first Tuesday in the league's preseason coaches poll, and Marist had the second-most selections with four each.
