Alabama's streak as Vegas favorites in jeopardy
Since facing Urban Meyer, Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators in the SEC championship game in 2009, the Alabama Crimson Tide have been the Las Vegas favorites in every game in which they've played. That's five years without Alabama going into a game as an underdog.
That streak of 69 consecutive games as favorites, though, appears to be in jeopardy. As of Sunday, one Vegas sports book had the Tide listed as a "pick 'em," in their matchup with Georgia on Oct. 3. That line is almost certain to move before that date, as the sports books regularly adjust lines based on team performance, injuries, etc., as well as bets placed. But if it holds, it would be the end of a remarkable run.
At this point, the only other game that would seem to be a potential streak ender would be Alabama's rivalry game with Auburn. The Tide are currently 3.5-point favorites over the Tigers, but Auburn has been getting a lot of preseason love and could easily enter that game in the national-title picture.
That Nov. 27 matchup is the only game other than the Georgia contest in which Alabama is currently favored by less than touchdown.
