Alabama's pro day was mostly about the big men.
Linemen Chance Warmack, D.J. Fluker and Jesse Williams were among those working out for representatives from every NFL team Wednesday in the Crimson Tide's indoor facility while Barrett Jones did repetitions on the bench press.
A highlight of the day was when projected first-round draft picks Fluker and Warmack, who total about 650 pounds, had some collisions holding a pad for each other in blocking drills.
''I enjoyed it. He's a teammate, but at the end of the day it's a work day,'' a sweat-drenched Fluker said. ''I ain't scared of nobody. Work day, baby. That's how we do it. It's the Bama way.''
The right tackle said he has dropped some 10 pounds since the BCS championship game, weighing in at 334 on Wednesday.
Warmack wanted to show his athleticism and ''just show what I can bring to the table if anybody wants to draft me.''
Projected as a top-10 pick by some, the guard said he doesn't pay attention to mock drafts.
''I don't have time,'' Warmack said. ''If I'm not sleeping, I'm training and if I'm not training I'm talking to teams. This has been a busy schedule for me, but it's fine. I'm having fun.''
Alabama coach Nick Saban said Warmack's skills make him a good bet as a high pick at a position that produces relatively few first-rounders.
''I just think that Chance has unique skill set and he's got really good size,'' Saban said. ''He's very powerful, he's athletic, he's got good feet, he can pass block and he can get moving in the run game. I think people that have his kind of balance and body control and the kind of athleticism that he has at his size are rare commodities. Everybody knows that those guys play 12, 14, 15 years. I think Chance has a chance to have that kind of career.''
The Tide's top prospect watched from the sidelines. Cornerback Dee Milliner, projected as a possible Top-5 pick, watched from the sidelines with a sling on his right arm. He had surgery to repair a torn labrum after the combine, when he ran a 4.37 40.
Tailback Eddie Lacy is hoping to become the third straight Alabama tailback selected in the first round. He hasn't been able to help his case in workouts yet with a hamstring injury keeping him from running for NFL scouts at the combine or pro day.
Lacy, MVP of the BCS and Southeastern Conference championship games, said he'll work out at a later pro day in Tuscaloosa.
''NFL coaches like you because of what you do in games and what you do in big stadiums,'' he said. ''This is just something that they want to see you and make their own evaluations.''
Safety Robert Lester, linebacker Nico Johnson and tight end Michael Williams were among those running the 40, along with Jesse Williams. No official times were released but Alabama said Jesse Williams was clocked between 4.78-4.90 seconds.
The 6-foot-3, 323-pound defensive tackle bench-pressed 225 pounds 30 times at the combine and let that stand.
''I'm more worried about running,'' Jesse Williams said. ''Everybody knew I was strong anyway. I mean, I bench a ton of pounds. I'm trying to show people how I move for my size.''
Jones, who started at four positions on the offensive line, bench-pressed 225 pounds 27 times. He had foot surgery after the national championship game in January and is still wearing a boot on his left leg. Defensive tackle Damion Square, who's also recovering from an injury, managed 23 repetitions.
Jones said he's not expecting to be cleared to run until May, which leaves him relying on mostly game tape and team interviews to help his draft stock.
He won the Outland Trophy as a junior left tackle and the Rimington Award as the nation's top center last season, and isn't too choosy about where he winds up on the line.
''I'll play whatever position I'm asked to play,'' Jones said. ''If you made me choose I'd probably choose center right now because No. 1, I played there last year and No. 2, I'm kind of a control freak. I like to be in control. If we're watching TV together I like to hold the remote. That's the kind of guy I am.
''I like making the calls. I like the preparation aspect of it. But that being said, wherever they think the best fit for their team and can help them win, that's where I want to play.''
