Alabama the early favorite to win the 2016 title and USC season opener
Fresh off another national title and capturing the first back-to-back SEC championships since Tennessee accomplished the feat in 1998-1999, Alabama is currently the betting favorite to defend its crown in 2016. The Crimson Tide are also a big favorite in neutral site season opener against USC.
Not only are the Tide expected to start the season off with a victory, but Bovada has Alabama as the opening favorites to win it all in 2016 at +600. Clemson has the second best odds at +700, followed by Michigan at +900, Oklahoma at +1000 with Ohio State rounding out the top five opening odds at +1000.
Given that information, it's no surprise to learn the Crimson Tide are also the favorites to beat USC in the 2016 season opener at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. However, the margin of the current week one spread is somewhat surprising, as Alabama opens as a 14-point favorite over the Trojans per 5Dimes.
Alabama has been favored in 81 of its last 82 games, the lone exception coming last season as the Tide traveled to Athens to face Georgia. The Tide were a one-point underdog in the game but would go on to win by the lopsided margin of 38-10. Alabama also has a 3-0 record at AT&T Stadium, where they actually won more games inside the stadium in 2015 (2) than the Dallas Cowboys, who played eight home games, winning only one.
