Alabama cuts ties with assistant who reportedly gave player money
The assistant strength and conditioning coach who reportedly gave Alabama safety HaHa Clinton-Dix a short-term loan is no longer employed by the university.
Alabama spokesman Doug Walker said Saturday that Corey Harris ''is no longer on the staff.'' He couldn't elaborate because it is a personnel issue.
Clinton-Dix was suspended in October and missed the Kentucky and Georgia State games before being reinstated by the NCAA. The Tuscaloosa News reported that Harris was placed on administrative leave after loaning Clinton-Dix less than $500, possibly violating NCAA rules about student-athletes receiving extra benefits.
The junior is projected as a potential first-round NFL draft pick. The top-ranked Crimson Tide's home finale was Saturday against Chattanooga.
