Alabama, Auburn top QB target Woody Barrett announces decision date
The new trend in college football recruiting is to land the quarterback first and assemble the rest of the class around that player. Alabama and Auburn would love to build the rest of their 2016 recruiting class around Winter Garden, Florida quarterback Woody Barrett.
Both schools will soon have their chance, as Barrett has announced he will pick between the two teams on June 3rd.
Barrett is currently ranked as a four-star dual-threat quarterback prospect and has been compared to a larger Nick Marshall. Sounds like a perfect fit for Auburn.
But not so fast Tiger fans, Barrett's high school coach spoke to Everything Alabama regarding his star quarterback's recruitment.
On Barrett and teammate Eddie McDoom, also being recruited by Alabama: "Woody Barrett is real excited about Alabama. Eddie McDoom is real excited about Alabama. Alabama might be No. 1 on both their boards. The kids are real excited about it. They're really, really interested. You never know. I think Alabama is certainly a great fit for both of them."
Sounds positive for the Tide as well. Whichever program receives Barrett's pledge first will have a jump start on the other heading into the summer recruiting battles.
The Iron Bowl rivalry never takes a day off in Alabama, which side will win a small victory on June 3rd?
