A look ahead: How will Florida's QB situation look in '16?
With Will Grier transferring from Florida, the quarterback position at Florida is a fascinating one heading into 2016.
Treon Harris will be a junior -- and the incumbent starter at the position. Although he'll have the inside track at retaining the job, it's far from a slam dunk that he'll cemented into a starting role.
In the seven games Harris has started for the Gators since Grier's suspension (and eventual transfer), Florida's scored over 20 points only twice. The offense has struggled immensely at times, and there's truly no guarantee the defense in 2016 will be as strong as it's been this year. As a result, more production is needed.
Incoming freshman Feleipe Franks figures to thrust himself into the competition. He'll be an early enrollee -- and will have the benefit of going through spring ball. He may be a bit raw to ultimately win the starting gig, but his physical tools are undeniable.
The big wild card in this equation is Luke Del Rio. Initially a member of Alabama, he transferred to play for Mike Riley at Oregon State -- before ultimately coming to Florida once Riley bolted for Nebraska.
The son of Oakland Raiders head coach Jack Del Rio, the young signal-caller certainly will be in the thick of things in regards to potentially winning the job.
