15 years later, OSU football is a better job than Arizona State
Fifteen years ago, Dirk Koetter agreed to become the new Oklahoma State head football coach. You know the rest. Koetter balked at the arrangement, chose to go to Arizona State instead, and the Cowboys would eventually wind up with Mike Gundy.
Koetter, for his part, has done just fine for himself. He's aligned himself with franchise QB Jameis Winston in Tampa Bay and will have a chance to coach him for what should be years to come. But it doesn't mean Koetter has made all of the right choices along the way.
In the past 15 years, Arizona State has been to 10 bowls, none of them major. Oklahoma State has been to 13.
It's safe to say the Koetter/Oklahoma State marriage that never was likely benefitted both sides.
