Xavier has suffered another major setback, losing senior forward Jamel McLean to a broken bone around the eye socket.

McLean was hurt Tuesday night during a 73-62 exhibition victory over Northern Kentucky. Tests found the fracture, which will take three to six weeks to heal.

The Atlantic 10 co-champions also lost 3-point leader Brad Redford to a torn knee ligament during workouts last month. Xavier is down to nine healthy scholarship players to start the season.

McLean is the top returning front-line scorer and rebounder. He averaged 8.5 points and 7.5 rebounds as Xavier went to round of 16 for the third consecutive season. Xavier has only two other returning starers.
