Xavier 86, Dayton 83
Tu Holloway scored a season-high 32 points - 15 of them on free throws - and Xavier extended its 31-year dominance of Dayton on the Musketeers' home court, beating the Flyers 86-83 in overtime on Saturday night.
Xavier (17-9, 8-4 Atlantic 10 Conference) never trailed in overtime, which Mark Lyons opened with a pair of driving baskets. Holloway took it from there, hitting a 3 and four consecutive free throws, the last with 11.7 seconds to go.
Kevin Dillard missed a 3-point shot for Dayton (16-10, 6-6), and Holloway came down with the rebound with 1.5 seconds left to secure it. Then, the Xavier students broke out posters of the six U.S. presidents who have held office since the Flyers last beat the Musketeers in Cincinnati.
Dayton is 0-27 since its last victory on Xavier's court on Jan. 10, 1981.
Dillard led the Flyers with 20 points.
