Wyoming beats Denver 68-52 with late-game breakaway

DENVER (AP) Josh Adams, who's averaging 22 points per game, scored 19 Wednesday night with nine rebounds and three assists to help Wyoming defeat Denver 68-52.

The Cowboys (5-2) were balanced. Alexander Aka Gorski scored 15 points, Alan Herndon 12 on 5-for-5 shooting, and Jason McManamen added 10 points on a trio of 3-point shots and four assists.

Bryant Rucker led Denver (5-2) with 17 points and three steals. He was the only Pioneer to score in double figures and kept Denver, which saw its five-game win streak end, close with some big shots after halftime.

Rucker, who scored 13 points after halftime, sank a pair of foul shots to boost Denver to a 48-47 lead with 7:42 left to play. Adams responded with two from the line for Wyoming, and the Cowboys closed out on a 20-4 run to the finish.

Adams scored 8 points in the run including a dunk.
