Wright St. 75, Portland St. 70
Cory Cooperwood scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half and Wright State held off a late Portland State charge for a 75-70 victory on the second night of the round-robin Athletes In Action Classic. Wright State built a 15-point halftime advantage against the Vikings a night after giving a scare to No. 14 Washington on the first day of the three-day tournament, and the Raiders needed every bit of that lead. Portland State closed to 56-51 with 7 minutes left on Dominic Waters' 3-pointer, but Wright State pushed the advantage back to nine. In the final 2 minutes, the Vikings hit three 3-pointers to get within 72-68 with 21 seconds left, but Wright State made 3 of 4 free throws to hold on. Melvin Jones led Portland State (0-2) with 23 points and Julius Thomas scored 15. Troy Tabler added 16 points for the Raiders (1-1).
