RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) North Carolina State forward Lennard Freeman is recovering from surgery to repair a broken right leg.

The school says the rising junior had a fracture in the lower part of his leg last week. He will need three to four months to recover before he can resume full basketball activities under the supervision of team medical staff and trainers.

The rising junior started 21 games last season and averaged a team-best 5.6 rebounds, with the Wolfpack's improved late-season play coinciding with Freeman's increased role. Freeman had 11 points and 12 rebounds in the upset of top-seeded Villanova in the NCAA Tournament that pushed the Wolfpack to the Sweet 16 for the second time in four seasons.
