Pssst — want to hear a secret?

If you listen to the experts, and their voices tend to consume the airwaves, the national champ will emerge from the Big East or the ACC — which, again, if you listen to the experts, is where college basketball begins and ends.

And there are plenty of good teams in both leagues, Nos. 1 and 2 in terms of RPI and perception. Connecticut might be better than anyone, while Pittsburgh and Louisville are in the discussion. North Carolina was supposed to run the table, which was a ridiculous notion from the start. Duke is, well, Duke, and Wake Forest, believe it or not considering how potent the Demon Deacons are right now, might be a year away from being really dangerous.
