West Virginia tops Stetson 103-62 behind Williams

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) Devin Williams scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and four teammates finished in double figures as West Virginia beat Stetson 103-62 Friday night.

The game was the first of four that both the Mountaineers (3-0) and Hatters (0-3) will play in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational.

Both teams will play home games on Monday and then head to Las Vegas for the remainder of the tournament.

Elijah Macon scored a career-high 18 points with seven rebounds for West Virginia. Jaysean Paige scored a career-high 19 points and five boards, and Esa Ahmad scored a career-best 11 points with eight rebounds. Daxter Miles Jr. scored 13 points and grabbed five rebounds.

It was the second time this season West Virginia has topped 100 points total since beating Northern Kentucky 107-61 in their opener.

Leo Goodman (14 points) and Derick Newton (12) were Stetson's leading scorers.
