Washington leads Miami (Ohio) to 57-52 OT win over Akron

AKRON, Ohio (AP) Eric Washington scored 21 points and Miami (Ohio) beat Akron 57-52 on Saturday night.

Will Sullivan made a 3-pointer to give the RedHawks a 51-50 lead in overtime and Washington made two free throws with 23 seconds left. Jake Kretzer scored for the Zips with eight seconds left before Washington and Chris Bryant sank two free throws apiece to secure the win.

Washington made a pair of free throws with 15 seconds to go in regulation to tie the game at 48-all and send it into overtime.

Sullivan finished with 11 points and Geovonie McKnight 10 for the RedHawks (11-16, 6-8 Mid-American Conference).

Kwan Cheatham Jr. had 14 points and Noah Robotham added 10. Pat Forsythe grabbed 12 rebounds for the Zips (17-10, 8-6).

Akron had a 46-33 rebounding edge but committed 20 turnovers to the RedHawks' 10.
