Walker scores 15, Kent St holds off Wofford 66-59
ESTERO, Fla. (AP) Jaylin Walker scored 15 points, including a critical jumper late, Jimmy Hall had 11 points and nine rebounds and Kent State beat Wofford 66-59 on Wednesday.
Kent State committed a season-low five turnovers, outrebounded Wofford 44-35 and made 11 of 22 second-half shots.
Walker hit a 3-pointer to cap a 13-5 spurt that put the Golden Flashes (4-2) up 56-51 with 4:30 left. Fletcher Magee's 3 nearly a minute later pulled the Terriers within two before a jumper by Hall made it 58-54 with 2:52 to play. After Wofford missed two clean looks at 3s, Walker hit a baseline jumper with 1 second left on the shot clock to push the lead to six with a minute remaining. Kent State made 6 of 6 free throws from there to seal it.
Magee had 14 point and five assists for Wofford (1-4). Ryan Sawvell scored 12 on 5-of-6 shooting.
