Walker, Louisiana-Lafayette beat Jackson St 76-53

LAFAYETTE, La. (AP) Devonta Walker scored 19 points and grabbed a career-high eight rebounds to lead Louisiana-Lafayette past Jackson State 76-53 on Wednesday night.

Brian Williams added 15 points and Shawn Long finished with nine points, nine rebounds and four blocked shots for Louisiana-Lafayette (3-3).

Jackson State's Dontaveon Robinson tied the game at 6 on a layup about 3 minutes in, but back-to-back layups by Walker capped a 12-4 run with 12:42 left in the half and Louisiana-Lafayette never trailed again.

The Ragin' Cajuns took a 35-27 lead into halftime and slowly pulled away in the second half before a 6-0 spurt extended their lead to 62-42 with 11:47 remaining.

Jackson State (1-6) made just 23 of 68 (33.8 percent) from the field, including 3 of 15 (20 percent) from 3-point range, and was out-rebounded 48-33.

Derrell Taylor, the only Jackson State player to reach double figures, scored 17.
