Wagner holds off St. Francis Brooklyn late, posts 64-61 win
NEW YORK (AP) Aaren Edmead scored 16 points off the Wagner bench and the Seahawks held off St. Francis Brooklyn, 64-61 in a Northeast Conference battle between New York City neighbors Thursday night.
Henry Brooks hit the front end of a one-and-one to give Wagner a 62-54 lead with 1:30 remaining, but St. Francis got a layup from Antonio Jenifer and a 3-pointer from Yunus Hopkinson to cut the lead to three. Dwaun Anderson's jumper pushed the lead back to five, 64-59. Keon Williams knocked down two free throws with 12 seconds left to pull the Terriers back to within three, but Hopkinson missed two 3-point attempts in the final 15 seconds.
Corey Henson had 14 points and Michael Carey added another 12 for Wagner (13-7, 6-3).
Hopkinson scored 18 points, hitting 4 of 9 from 3-point range for St. Francis (8-14, 4-5).
