Mike Scott had 20 points, nine rebounds and four assists as Virginia cruised to an 86-53 win over Longwood on Saturday.
Sammy Zeglinski added 14 points and seven assists for Virginia (7-1).
Antwan Carter led Longwood (3-6) with 17 points.
''I thought, as the game wore on, offensively we caught our stride,'' said Virginia coach Tony Bennett. ''Defensively, there were some holes, but the guys played pretty hard for the most part.''
The Cavaliers, who host George Mason Tuesday night, held their eighth straight opponent under 60 points.
Virginia shot 52 percent (29 of 56) from the floor and held Longwood to 38 percent (20 of 53).
''We're just feeding off our defense and playing with confidence and poise on offense,'' Scott said.
Scott made a 3-pointer, just his second of the season, for Virginia's first points of the game. Coincidentally, his other 3-pointer, against Drexel, also came on the team's first possession.
''It's rhythm, basically,'' Scott said. ''I've been working on my outside shot the whole summer. It's rhythm.''
The Cavaliers never trailed in the game and claimed a 19-point halftime lead. A Joe Harris dunk ignited a 10-3 run that was capped by a Malcom Brogdon layup to give Virginia a 65-40 lead.
Longwood played its second game in as many days. On Friday night, the Lancers defeated South Carolina State.
''It seemed like they got fatigued as the game wore on,'' Bennett said, ''So it presented opportunities - whether it was inside-out play or just some easy baskets in transition.''
Virginia's 86 points were the second-highest total in Bennett's two-plus years at the helm. The Cavaliers were coming off a win over No. 14 Michigan in the ACC/Big 10 Challenge on Tuesday.
''We just talked about (how) good teams don't let down,'' said Bennett, whose team's largest lead was 35 points. ''It was going to be a good test to see if we still had the alertness and the sharpness that was needed.''
