K.T. Harrell scored 13 points in a 24-5 first-half run and Virginia held Radford scoreless for nearly 15 minutes in a 54-44 victory Tuesday night.
Harrell was 5 for 5 from the field with three 3-pointers during the first half burst as the Cavaliers (6-3) won the opener of an eight-game homestand. Mustapha Farrakhan and Joe Harris led Virginia with 14 points each, and Mike Scott had 10 points and 13 rebounds.
Gorkem Sonmez led Radford with 15 points.
The Highlanders (2-6) started fast, but lost their fifth straight. They led 14-8 following a basket by Sonmez with 11:16 left in the half, but scored just five more points before the intermission - none after Evan Faulkner's 3-pointer with 7:35 to play.
