Utah Valley blasts Chicago State, 78-62

OREM, Utah (AP) Marcel Davis scored 19 points and dished out seven assists to lead Utah Valley to a 78-62 victory over Chicago State on Thursday night.

Donte Williams and Zach Nelson each finished with 16 points for the Wolverines (8-11, 3-2 Western Athletic Conference), and Mitch Bruneel added 13 points. Overall four of five Utah Valley starters finished in double figures and scored all but seven of its total points.

The Wolverines opened on a 16-6 run and held a 42-35 lead at the half. They kept the pressure on much of the second half, pushing their lead past 20 on a Boston Gubler layup with 10:07 left.

Jared Dimakos scored 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting to lead Chicago State (4-18, 0-5). The Cougars have lost seven straight games, and are 0-13 on the road this season.
