Utah State's Jalen Moore to submit name for NBA draft
LOGAN, Utah (AP) Utah State junior forward Jalen Moore said Friday that he will submit his name for the NBA draft but will not hire an agent.
Moore is taking advantage of a new rule that allows underclassmen to attend the May 10-15 NBA draft combine to get feedback from teams and then decide their future as long as they haven't signed with an agent. The deadline to withdraw from the draft is May 25.
''It is always a lifelong goal of somebody who has played basketball as a kid to want to play in the NBA. It's everyone's dream,'' Moore said. ''I have been working at it my whole life and I feel like this summer I have a decent shot. With the new rule, if it doesn't work out, then I can pull out and attend my senior year at Utah State.''
The 6-foot-9 Moore led the Aggies in scoring and rebounding the last two seasons, averaging 15.2 points and 6.7 rebounds as a sophomore and 15.2 points and 6.0 rebounds as a junior.
''We are supportive of Jalen exploring his options at the next level,'' Aggies coach Tim Duryea said. ''We will use our NBA contacts to try and help him gather information regarding his draft status. Our goal is to help all of our players succeed at every level.''
