Brian Cole scored a career-high 24 points and Kyle Randall added 20 as North Carolina-Greensboro defeated The Citadel 86-74 on Monday night.

Cole, who went into the game averaging 5.9 points, made 10 of 16 shots from the field and Randall was 8 of 10. They led the Spartans' 56.1-percent shooting (37 of 66), and ended a two-game losing streak. Trevis Simpson made 7 of 10 shots and scored 15 points for the Spartans (5-18, 5-8 Southern Conference).

The Bulldogs (9-16, 5-8) lost their third straight. Mike Groselle led them with 20 points, while Zach Urbanus added 16 and Austin Dahn had 15. The Citadel shot a respectable 28 of 62 from the field (45.1 percent), but couldn't keep pace with the torrid-shooting Spartans. Even an advantage at the free-throw line, where they made 13 of 17 shots - compared to the Spartans' 4 of 6 - wasn't enough help for the Bulldogs.
