UNC beats Fayetteville State 111-58 in exhibition

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (AP) Freshman Justin Jackson scored 18 points to help North Carolina beat Fayetteville State 111-58 in its exhibition opener Friday night.

Fellow rookie Theo Pinson added 15 points and eight rebounds as the Tar Heels had five players score in double figures. The Tar Heels dominated the boards by a nearly 2-to-1 margin and finished with 29 second-chance points.

Marcus Paige added 14 points, while Brice Johnson pulled down 13 rebounds and J.P. Tokoto had eight assists.

The Tar Heels led 46-27 at halftime then shot 62 percent after the break.

Juwan Addison scored 17 points for the Division II Broncos. Fayetteville State shot 31 percent for the game.

Before the game, UNC announced that senior reserve Luke Davis has a stress fracture in his right foot that will require surgery. Davis, one of four potential point guards on the roster, will miss two to three months.
