Bakari Lewis came off the bench to score 21 points and Jay Couisnard added 14 as UMKC defeated Southeast Missouri 70-62 Saturday night.
Lewis was 6 of 9 from the field, including three 3-pointers, for the Kangaroos (3-0) .
Anthony Allison led the Redhawks (0-3) with 14 points and Leon Powell had 13.
UMKC trailed 29-27 at halftime before taking the lead for good with a 10-2 run. The Kangaroos led by as many as 13 and didn't let Southeast Missouri get closer than eight in the final 10 minutes.

UMKC made 50 percent (23 of 46) of its shot while the Redhawks hit just 37.3 percent (22 of 29).
