UC Santa Barbara edges UC Riverside in OT, 68-65

RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) Alan Williams logged 21 points and UC Santa Barbara survived in overtime against UC Riverside, winning 68-65 on Thursday night.

Zalmico Harmon and Mitch Brewe added 11 points each for UCSB.

UCSB (12-5, 3-1 Big West) led by 10 points, 45-35 at 13:20 of the second half but the Highlanders (6-13, 1-4) inched back to 60-59 with 5 seconds left and Taylor Johns at the foul line. Johns made just one of two free throws, sending the game to overtime.

The Gauchos jumped out to a 64-60 lead in overtime and when Michael Bryson completed a three-point play on a layup and foul, UCSB led 67-62.

Riverside trailed 68-65 when Sam Finley's buzzer-beating 3-point attempt following a UCSB turnover missed and the Gauchos picked up the win.

Chris Patton led the Highlanders with 23 points.
