UC Santa Barbara 71, Cal Poly-SLO 70

James Nunnally's basket at the buzzer lifted UC Santa Barbara to a 71-70 victory over Cal Poly on Thursday night.

Shawn Lewis' 3-pointer with 5.6 seconds remaining gave Cal Poly a 70-69 lead, but Nunnally drove the lane and scored as time expired for the Gauchos (11-7, 4-3 Big West).

Orlando Johnson led UC Santa Barbara with 24 points. Nunnally scored 13 and Justin Joyner had 12 points for the Gauchos.

Lewis and David Hanson each scored 20 points for the Mustangs (8-11, 4-4). Will Donahue had a game-high 11 rebounds for Cal Poly.

Santa Barbara shot 50 percent from the field, but Cal Poly stayed in the game by making 13 of its 26 3-point attempts, with Hanson and Lewis each making four. But the Mustangs finished at 42 percent overall, going just 33 percent (8 for 24) inside the arc.
