Cameron Moore scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead Alabama-Birmingham to an 80-69 victory over Houston on Wednesday night.

Moore also blocked five shots for the Blazers (8-13, 3-5 Conference USA) while posting his eighth double-double this season. It was the senior's 22nd career double-double, tying him for second in UAB history with Lawrence Kinnard.

UAB led 48-27 with 3:24 left until halftime after a 26-10 run that included 10 points by Moore and two 3-pointers by Quincy Taylor.

The Cougars (11-10, 3-5) trailed 70-64 with 5:39 left in the game, but a jumper by Moore and a 3-pointer by Preston Purifoy widened the lead to 75-64 with 2:53 to play.

Purifoy and Ovie Soko scored 15 points each for UAB and Taylor scored 12.

Jonathon Simmons and Alandise Harris scored 17 each for Houston. Freshman TaShawn Thomas added 16 points and 14 rebounds for his sixth double-double.
