Tulane beats Savannah State 75-67

NEW ORLEANS (AP) Payton Henson scored 20 points and Jonathan Stark added 17 to lead Tulane to a 75-67 win over Savannah State on Tuesday night.

Louis Dabney scored 12 and the Green Wave (8-1) outrebounded Savannah State 37-29 and outshot them 59.5 percent to 44.3 percent.

Alante Fenner led the Tigers (3-9) with 18 points while Terel Hall had 13, Jamal Norman 12, and Demarcus Bryant 10.

Tulane led 9-2 on a 3-pointer by Dabney, then went scoreless for nearly 6 minutes but the Tigers couldn't catch up. Stark scored three straight buckets and Tulane led 27-23 at halftime.

Tulane opened the second half with a 12-3 run, then led by 15 at 49-34, after a 3 by Keith Pickney. The Tigers mounted a comeback and Khaleen Pinkett made a layup with 32 seconds to play to pull Savannah State within seven, 70-63. Tulane's Stark sank five free throws in the final 31 seconds.
