One Big East club proved it's for real while another showed its vulnerability.

Georgetown went to Madison Square Garden and had its way with Butler and then, a few days later, traveled 3,000 or so miles to the West Coast and had little difficulty knocking off the Pac-10's top team, Washington.

The Hoyas' statement allowed them to jump a handful of spots all the way to No. 8, one spot in front of Villanova, who lost in a Big 5 matchup at Temple on Sunday afternoon.

Three teams were knocked out of the top 25: Vanderbilt, which lost twice this week, Wisconsin, who lost at Green Bay, and Washington.

New Mexico not only broke into the poll, but the Lobos came in at No. 18 after a win at Texas A&M. Dayton, with a pair of quality losses to Villanova and Kansas State, also made its way in.
