MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) Julius Brown scored 24 points and Toledo never trailed as the Rockets beat Ball State 72-61 on Saturday.

Brown was 9 of 14 from the floor, hit all six free throws and had six assists. Justin Drummond had 15 points and Jonathan Williams added 12. Toledo shot 53 percent and was 19 of 24 at the line.

J.D. Weatherspoon's dunk six minutes in put Toledo (15-8, 7-3 Mid-American) up 10-4. The Rockets then used a 16-4 run, including a 3-pointer and layup from Drummond on consecutive possessions, to lead 42-27 at the break.

Ball State trimmed the deficit to nine a couple of times later in the second half - the latest with 3:43 left after Kaleb Malory's layup made it 62-53 - but never closed the gap.
