Cameron Johnson scored 18 points and Texas State defeated Texas-Tyler 80-59 on Friday.
Eddie Rios had 16 points and Tony Bishop had 11 points and nine rebounds for the Bobcats (4-9). Texas State led 36-24 at halftime and the Patriots came as close as five points early in the second half before the Bobcats pulled away.
Texas State owned a 48-32 edge on the boards and went to the free-throw line 33 times, making 22. Texas-Tyler was 6 for 9 from the foul line.
Twenty-one players scored in the game, 11 for Texas-Tyler.
