Texas-Pan American used a 15-0 spurt in the second half to pull away from Eastern Kentucky 67-53 on Saturday night in the Nick Kladis Classic.

The Broncs' Aaron Urbanus led all scorers with 21 points, including three 3-pointers. Jared Maree added 11 points and eight rebounds, and Perry Petty scored 10.

Jeff Allgood led the Colonels (0-2) with 14 points, and Joshua Jones scored 10.

Allgood's 3-pointer put Eastern Kentucky ahead 46-43 with 12:07 left. But Texas-Pan American's 15-0 run, fueled by six points from Maree, sealed the outcome.

The Broncs (1-1) led 9-0 before Deverin Muff sank two free throws with 5:06 elapsed to get Eastern Kentucky on the board.

The Colonels shot only 32.5 percent (13 of 40) and committed 22 turnovers to the Broncs' 14.

The game was the first meeting between the schools.
