LaMarcus Reed III scored 15 points as Texas-Arlington dismantled Nicholls State 85-55 Saturday night.
The Mavericks (9-5, 2-0) had scoring runs of 15-2 and 10-0 in the first half, turning a close game early into a runaway victory. UTA led by as many as 24 in the opening half and took a 45-23 lead into halftime.
Kevin Butler, Shaquille White-Miller and Brandon Edwards also scored in double figures for UTA. The Mavericks shot 50 percent from the floor.
Nicholls State (4-10, 0-2) was held to 33.9 percent shooting and turned the ball over 17 times. Trevon Lewis led the Colonels with 18 points.

Blowout victories have become the norm for UTA in conference play as the team has averaged 34.5 points for its margin of victory.
