Texas A&M-CC beats Mississippi Valley St 75-66

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (AP) Bryce Douvier scored 19 points and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi beat Mississippi Valley State 75-66 on Friday, advancing in the Corpus Christi Challenge.

The Islanders (3-2) face Radford, which defeated North Carolina A&T earlier in the day, on Saturday in the Visitors' Bracket title game.

Douvier was 6 of 9 from the floor where the Islanders shot 51 percent. John Jordan scored 14 and Rashawn Thomas had 14 and 10 boards.

Jeffrey Simmons led MVSU (0-6) with 14 points.

Corpus Christi used a 16-4 run early in the first half, including treys by Brandon Pye and Jelani Currie, to build a double-digit lead, but MVSU closed the half with a 16-6 run and trailed by five at intermission.

The Islanders led 56-51 with 7:53 left but a 12-6 run pushed the lead to 12 with 2:52 left. They made eight consecutive free throws inside 2 minutes to ice it.
