Tennessee Tech tops Crowley's Ridge College 106-44
Charles Newton scored a career-high 23 points and Tennessee Tech routed Crowley's Ridge College 106-44 Thursday night.
For the first 13:39, Tennessee Tech had a harder time than might have been expected in a game against the visitors from northeast Arkansas, who play in the National Christian College Athletic Association. The Golden Eagles led 28-20, then outscored the Pioneers 23-2 over the next five minutes and led 52-25 at halftime.
Tennessee Tech dominated inside, outrebounding Crowley's Ridge 50-29 and outscoring the Pioneers 58-6 in the paint. The Golden Eagles (5-6) shot 61.4 percent from the field for the game (43 of 70), while the Pioneers (5-7) shot 32.1 percent (18 of 56) and made only 3 of 17 free-throw attempts.
Kevin Murphy had 19 points for Tennessee Tech and Liam McMorrow added 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Quentin Franks' 10 points led Crowley's Ridge.
