Kevin Murphy scored 29 points as Tennessee Tech rallied in the second half to force overtime, then held on to prevail against Lipscomb 89-87 Saturday night.

Murphy made 1 of 2 free throws with 3 seconds left in overtime to put Tennessee Tech (5-4) ahead 89-87. Lipscomb (6-5) missed a desperation heave from past halfcourt at the buzzer.

Trailing 38-30 at halftime, Tennessee Tech (5-4) sank 6 of 8 3-point attempts in the second half, including 4 by Murphy. Robert Boyd, who scored a career-high 23 for Lipscomb, hit a 3-pointer with 12 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 77.

Deonte Alexander had a career-best 21 for Lipscomb, including four 3-pointers. His last came with 0:05 left, pulling the Bisons within one, 88-87, after Zach Bailey's free throw had given the Golden Eagles an 88-84 lead. Murphy's foul shot and Lipscomb's long miss then ended it.
