Tennessee-Martin rolls by SIU Edwardsville, 68-51

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) Myles Taylor scored 22 points, grabbed 13 rebounds, and Tennessee-Martin pulled away from SIU Edwardsville down the stretch in a 68-51 win on Saturday night.

Taylor hit 10 of his 16 shots from the field. Twymond Howard and Jacolby Mobley finished with 14 points for Tennessee-Martin (17-12, 9-5 Ohio Valley), which have won seven straight and is in a first-place tie with Murray State in the Ohio Valley East Division.

Carlos Anderson led SIU Edwardsville (6-21, 3-12) with 17 points. Jake Newton added 12 points for the Cougars, who shot just 37.3 percent and 6 of 26 from behind the arc.

Anderson hit a jumper to cut the Skyhawks' lead to 56-51 with 3:08 left. That was the last basket the Cougars scored as Tennessee-Martin closed on a 12-0 run to put SIU Edwardsville away. Seven of the 12 points came at the free-throw line.
