Technical FTs help Incarnate Word beat Texas A&M CC 70-65

SAN ANTONIO (AP) Jontrell Walker scored 23 points, Derail Green added 20, and each converted free throws off late technical fouls to lift Incarnate Word past Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 70-65 on Tuesday night.

Hameed Ali made two from the line to give Texas A&M-Corpus Christi a 61-60 lead with 2:13 to play. Seventeen seconds later, Rashawn Thomas was called for his fifth foul and then came two technical fouls. Walker made the first four free throws, Green hit the last two and the Cardinals led 66-61.

Ali answered with a 3-pointer and Bryce Douvier made 1 of 2 free throws to pull the Islanders to 66-65 with 24 seconds left.

Mitchell Badillo added two free throws, Douvier missed a potential game-tying 3-pointer, and Green chipped in two more from the line to seal it.

Badillo finished with 12 points for Incarnate Word (11-8, 6-2 Southland Conference).

Thomas scored 22 points to lead Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (16-5, 7-2).
