Taylor scores 20 points, leads Rider over Marist 59-49
LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. (AP) Jimmie Taylor hit four 3-pointers and finished with 20 points to lead Rider over Marist 59-49 on Sunday as the Broncs tied a school record for most regular season wins.
Rider (21-10, 15-5 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference) has the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament and will play a quarterfinal game on Saturday.
Taylor scored 13 points during Rider's 18-5 run to give the Broncs a 50-37 lead with 7:53 remaining, and led by double digits until the final minute.
Taylor was 7 of 10 from the floor, and Xavier Lundy chipped in 12 with nine boards for Rider. The Broncs forced 15 Marist turnovers and last won 21 regular season games in 2008.
Chavaughn Lewis had 17 points and 14 rebounds, and T.J. Curry added 14 points for the Red Foxes (6-24, 5-15), who have lost six of their last seven and will open the tournament as the 11th seed.
