Stony Brook 80, Mount Ida College 43
Bryan Dougher scored 21 of his 24 points in the second half as Stony Brook overpowered Mount Ida College 80-43 on Sunday.
The Seawolves (1-1) led 34-29 at halftime, then blew out the Mustangs 46-14 in the second half.
Mount Ida, a Division III school counting the game as an exhibition, took an 8-2 lead and led 27-23 with 3:08 to go before halftime.
Stony Brook closed out the period on an 11-2 run, then opened the second half on an 11-0 tear. The Mustangs were scoreless the last 3:58.
The Seawolves shot 45.1 percent from the field (23 of 51) compared to 27.4 percent (17 of 62) for Mount Ida.
Stony Brook also hit 24 of 31 free throws - 16 of 20 in the first half as the Mustangs committed 15 fouls. The Mustangs were just 1 of 6 from the foul line.
Al Rapier added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Seawolves.
Isiah Benjamin led the Mustangs with 13 points.
