Jereal Scott scored 13 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Stephen F. Austin past Lamar 60-55 on Wednesday night.

The Lumberjacks (17-8, 8-5 Southland) led by as many as 10 points midway through the second half and finished with 42.3 percent shooting from the field.

The Cardinals (12-15, 6-7) rallied in the final 2 1/2 minutes to cut the Lumberjacks' lead to two with 17 seconds left.

Dion Prewster took Stephen F. Austin's margin back to three points on a free throw.

Lamar's Kendrick Harris quickly tried for a game-tying 3-pointer but missed.

Jordan Glynn made two more free throws for the Lumberjacks in the closing seconds for the final score.

Mike James finished with a game-high 17 points for the Cardinals while Anthony Miles added 13.

Eddie Williams scored 12 points and Antonio Bostic 11 for the Lumberjacks.
