St. Peter's hands Canisius a 3rd straight loss, 70-53
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) Trevis Wyche came off the bench to score 16 points and distribute eight assists as St. Peter's handed Canisius its third-straight loss in Metro Atlantic play, 70-53 on Saturday.
Wyche's layup with just under six minutes to play in the first half gave the Peacocks a 19-18 lead they never surrendered. St. Peter's held a nine-point lead, 29-20 at intermission and outscored the Golden Griffins in the second half, 41-33.
St. Peter's was 25 of 49 from the field, including 7 of 17 from behind the arc, and collected 16 assists.
Antwon Portley finished with 11 points for the Peacocks (6-8, 4-1). Quadir Welton and Rodney Hawkins each added 10.
Kassius Robertson finished with 15 points, and Jamal Reynolds and Jermaine Crumpton contributed 10 points apiece for Canisius (7-9, 2-4).
Canisius shot 29.7 percent from the field on 19-of-64 shooting, including just 7 of 28 from long range.
