St. Francis (NY) holds off Columbia 72-64

NEW YORK CITY (AP) Brent Jones scored 19 points as St. Francis defeated Columbia 72-64 in a non-conference game Tuesday night.

The Lions shot 55 percent from the field in the first half, but trailed by 10 points at halftime after St. Francis held them to just 20 field goal attempts and Columbia missed all four of its 3-point attempts.

The Terriers held the lead through the second half, padding it from the free-throw line, where they shot 20 of 26, including 13 of 19 in the second half.

Jalen Cannon scored 15 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for St. Francis (6-7), and Glenn Sanabria added 13 points. The Terriers shot 45.3 percent (24 of 53) and were 4 of 16 from distance.

Columbia (7-5) finished at 51 percent from the field on 25-of-49 shooting, but got to the line for just 14 free-throw attempts and were outrebounded 33-29.
