Ben Mockford scored a career-high 24 points, including knocking down a tie-breaking 3-pointer with 35 seconds left that would end up as the game-winner as St. Francis (N.Y.) sank Howard 73-71 on Monday night.

With the game tied at 68-68, Brent Jones took the ball at the top of the key, drove the lane and then dished to an open Mockford on the left wing to put the Terriers (3-6) up for good. After a Stefan Perunicic's foul shot put St. Francis up by four points, Simuel Frazier knocked down a 3 for Howard to pull within 72-71.

But Mockford, who finished 3 of 4 at the line and 7 of 10 from long range, hit one last free throw for the final margin, and Prince Okoroh's 3-point attempt at the buzzer wouldn't fall for Howard.

Mike Phillips led the Bison (3-7) with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
