St. Bonaventure downs Saint Joseph's 83-73
PHILADELPHIA (AP) Jaylen Adams scored a career-high 31 points as St. Bonaventure downed Saint Joseph's 83-73 on Wednesday night.
Adams was 10 of 21 from the field including six 3-pointers for the Bonnies (14-6, 6-3 Atlantic 10 Conference). Dion Wright added 18 points and 11 rebounds, Idris Taqqee had 13 points and Marcus Posley had 11.
Adams, Wright and Taqqee each sank two 3-pointers in the first half and the Bonnies finished out the period on a 13-3 run to take a 42-35 lead at halftime.
St. Bonaventure led throughout the second half. Saint Joseph's got as close as 53-51 with 14:30 to play but the Bonnies held on and Adams sank three consecutive 3-pointers as part of an 11-3 surge that put them up 75-60 with 5:06 remaining.
DeAndre Bembry scored 22 points for the Hawks (18-4, 7-2). The loss broke a seven-game winning streak for St. Joseph's.
