St. Bonaventure 82, Siena 79
Andrew Nicholson scored 26 points, going 8 of 11 from the free-throw line in the final 1:38, as St. Bonaventure rallied to defeat Siena 82-79 on Tuesday night.
Michael Davenport added 20 points and Ogo Adegboye had 18 for the Bonnies (7-4) in the inaugural game for the Franciscan Cup.
St. Bonaventure, coming off a 76-68 overtime loss to Virginia Tech, led 39-32 with 18:12 to go. The Saints (4-7) then used a 23-7 run, sparked by Rakeem Brookins' 3-pointer and including five other 3s, to take a nine-point lead, 55-46, with 10:26 left.
The Bonnies pulled ahead 62-61 as Davenport hit a 3-pointer, and he scored five more points en route to a seven-point cushion with 2:36 to go.
Siena could get no closer than four until Jonathan Breeden's 3 with 1 second left.
Kyle Downey led the Saints with 21 points, while Brookins had 18 and Breeden and Owen Wignot scored 15 each.
