Southern U powers past Alabama State 87-64

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) Malcolm Miller made six 3-pointers and scored 23 points as Southern University beat Alabama State 87-64 on Monday night.

Miller scored 10 points, including two 3-pointers, during Southern's 21-2 run to put the Jaguars in control at 44-21 and the Jaguars eased to their eighth win in nine games.

Tre Lynch added 14 for Southern (17-11, 13-2 Southwestern Athletic Conference) and Trelun Banks had 12. Calvin Godfrey grabbed 12 rebounds and scored eight points for the Jaguars.

Brandon Graham led Alabama State (15-10, 9-5) with 14 points. Terrance LeFlore had 12 and DeMarcus Robinson 10 for the Hornets. Alabama State went to the line 31 times, but only converted 18 of them. The Hornets were held to 36.8 percent from the floor, on 21-of-57 shooting.

Southern led by as many as 30 points (79-49) in the second half.
